In the post-election rhetoric that seems to have gripped — some even would say strangled — the nation, we seem to have lost sight of the fact we live in the Land of Opportunity. Granted, when President Trump first talked about upending the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), I shuddered to think of an Arizona without this historic deal that has changed three nations. But now I focus on that one word: opportunity.
Our state has the opportunity to take a leadership position in renegotiation of NAFTA. With Mexico and Canada as Arizona’s top two trading partners, we have a lot to gain — or lose if we do nothing. The same can be said of other topics related to trade.
