DEC Leaders and Members,

Thank you for participating in last month’s NDEC Export Symposium and DEC Forum. Attached is an article from the US Chamber’s Policy Update on our meeting. Thanks to NDEC associate member Lisa Kelley for sending it to me.

If you have not already done so, please report on your Hill meetings. If you have had meetings with U.S. Senators or Representatives, their staff or their district directors in August or September or at our Washington Forum  and have not completed the electronic one-page Congressional Meeting Report Form on each meeting, then please do so now. The report can be found at The data we are getting from these Report forms is extremely valuable in planning and scheduling future trade issue and congressional meetings  by our NDEC Trade Policy Committee. And, remember that we will have a drawing for those making reports that will enable the winning DEC to send a member to our Spring meeting for no registration charge.

On a more substantive level, the Census Bureau has published a significant notice of proposed rulemaking regarding routed export transactions (I have included the text below) for which Census is requesting public comments. As this is an issue in which many exporters may have an interest, please consider responding individually or as a DEC.
