Phoenix-based PING, famous for its customized golf clubs, received the Arizona District Export Council’s Excellence in Global Business Award on May 19th, 2011. Representative Ben Quayle (AZ-3) presented the award along with Council Chair Karen Dickinson.
PING is a long-standing U.S. Commercial Service client that got its start exporting with the help of local trade specialists in the early 1970s. In his comments, PING Chairman John Solheim highlighted the company’s continued international success and rapid growth in Asia, while reminding attendees of the extreme challenges faced by American manufacturers. Congressman Quayle spoke of the importance of passing the FTAs with Panama, Colombia and Korea as well as the need for strong IP protection to help ensure U.S. competitiveness.
