Dave Dozor is an international, high-tech executive, manager, and entrepreneur specializing in the leadership of advanced technology growth companies and turn-around situations. For over 20 years Dave has led numerous programs and companies exporting advanced technologies, including those under military and dual-use US Export Control to 39 countries and direct experience and networks in the US, Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, the UK, the Netherlands, India, and Singapore, in addition to other geographies.
Dave has considerable experience in all aspects of international high-technology management and development with long-term experience in the following market segments; Aerospace & Defense, Scientific Instruments, Test and Measurement, and High-Value Capital Equipment and with these technologies; Electro-Optics/Photonics, Electro-Mechanics/Mechatronics/Robotics, Cyro-Vac, Software, Electronics, and CMOS and Compound Semiconductors.
Most recently as CEO of a Tucson-based infrared imaging systems company, Dave turned the company from contracting revenues to three years of internally-funded >30% revenue growth through two acquisitions, a full organizational rebuild/restart, a series of new technical product developments to capture market opportunities, and international and domestic sales expansion, which included negotiating and signing six international distribution agreements. Dave’s repositioning strategy increased total addressable markets from <$200M/yr to >$20B/yr.
Dave was responsible for overseeing the export management and compliance program and leading government relations, which led to a commodity jurisdiction (CJ) change from Dept. of State to Dept. of Commerce for an infrared imaging product, thus opening particular markets. While building companies to commercialize defense and advanced technologies, Dave has negotiated and closed many international and domestic transactions, including supplier agreements, distribution contracts, program and product sales, and corporate acquisitions.
As the COO of MetricVision, a provider of Laser Radar Systems used for high-precision coordinate metrology, Dave was responsible for driving the company from deep losses to profitability prior to sale to Metris, NV, through managing international and domestic sales channels, day-to-day operations including acquisition integration, technical development, and fund-raising.
As a Senior Manager and division General Manager at SSG, Inc., a provider of space-based infrared telescopes for National Security/Defense and Scientific Missions, among his other duties Dave created the Advanced Commercial Products Division (ACP), which was eventually sold to MetricVision, Inc. The ACP Division engaged in precision instrument development and manufacturing for MetricVision and a $48M Next Generation Semiconductor Lithography program, which Dave was responsible for selling and managing. Dave was also responsible for relationship development leading to SSG’s acquisition of Tinsley Laboratories, which SSG acquired during CFIUS review.
Dave holds an MBA from MIT-Sloan, where he graduated as an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow. His other degrees include an MS in Mechanical Engineering (specializing in Systems and Control) and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University. After winning a regional award for 2011 Export Excellence, Dave received a 4-year appointment by the US Secretary of Commerce to serve as a member of the Arizona District Export Council, where he was recently appointed Chairman of the Trade Policy and Legislative Affairs Committee. Dave also serves as a member of the Sensors and Instrumentation Technical Advisory Committee (SITAC) for the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security. In addition to other Tucson-based community activities, he serves on a pair of University of Arizona Advisory Boards, the Arizona Technology Council’s Public Policy Committee, and Harvard University’s Forum for Growth and Innovation. In addition, he is a member of the Arizona Desert Angels, investing in early-stage, regional companies.
